Delivery truck accident freezes San Antonio traffic

March 5 saw Loop 410 near San Antonio closed down for several hours due to a fiery truck accident. A delivery truck hit a support column on the westbound side of the road and burst into flames. The fire damaged the overpass and blocked the road with the flames and debris. The driver died in the cab, either from the impact or from the flames.

Exactly what caused the accident is unknown. One witness reported that no other vehicles caused the truck to go off the road, and that the truck had been drifting before the accident. Police speculate that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, which caused him to veer off the road and into the column. The truck was empty, but still burned for some time, and the road was closed for about eight hours while rescue workers put out the fire, investigated the scene, and removed the debris.

Tragically, accidents happen. Whether only one vehicle or several is involved, an accident that includes a truck of any sort will generally be much more serious. Whether you drive a truck or have been struck by one, the legal implications will be better dealt with by a law firm that knows how to handle automotive accidents in general and truck accidents in particular.
