Early March storm causes driving fatality

Winter storms across the country have caused countless difficulties, with power outages and school cancelations abounding. Among the most serious consequences, however, have been the many car accidents that the weather has caused. One more fatal accident occurred in Oklahoma on March 2. While the initial accident did not kill anyone, a driver who had stopped to help was hit by a bus that lost control while attempting to go around the accident.

This sad story has been all too common this winter season. Drivers inexperienced with snowy driving conditions have had to deal with weather they have not driven in before. And even when drivers are used to snow, once one accident has occurred, it is all too easy for others to follow, as navigating to avoid the accident requires maneuvers that can easily spin out of control on icy roads.

Many hope that the worst of the winter weather is over for this year, but you should still take precautions to keep yourself safe. Whether it’s snow or rain, drive more cautiously in inclement weather. Remember that you will not be able to stop or turn as quickly and precisely as normal. Have safety gear in your car in case of an accident.

Another preparation you can make is to arrange for a car accident attorney. That way, if you are ever in an accident, whether it is your fault, someone else’s, or simply due to poor weather conditions, you will know exactly who to call to deal with any legal issues that may arise.
