School Bus Accident in Fort Worth Injures Nine

At 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 21, a school bus carrying 35 children and 3 adults on a school field trip collided with another car, injuring nine individuals.  Fortunately, all injuries were minor, though most of the injured children were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The accident resulted in hours of traffic on Interstate 30 going west.

This accident highlights how vulnerable children on school buses are.  Though the cause of this accident is not yet known, there are many potential causes, including driver negligence.  When driving at high speeds through traffic on the highway, school bus drivers have the obligation to drive as safely as possible.

What makes school bus accidents even more serious is that many still do not have seat belts to provide the maximum amount of protection to passengers.  This leaves children vulnerable to sudden changes in speed and impact.
